Automate lead routing without losing enquiry context

Automatic routing can reduce delays, but a fast handoff is not helpful if the recipient lacks the customer's problem and preferred contact method. Build routing around clear ownership and complete context.

Use transparent rules and a fallback queue

Route by relevant brand, service, location or existing ownership. Record why the rule selected an owner. Send incomplete or conflicting records to a visible exception queue. Monitor unassigned leads and avoid silently discarding submissions when a destination is unavailable.

A worked example

A two-brand business routes advisory and finance enquiries separately while preserving the original form answers. If an owner is unavailable, an exception queue keeps the lead visible for review.

Illustrative scenario; this is not a claim about an actual Conxn client or guaranteed results.

Your action checklist

  • Define routing precedence
  • Preserve original enquiry details
  • Monitor unassigned and failed handoffs

Should routing require AI?

Often it does not. Explicit rules are easier to inspect for stable categories. Consider AI only where unstructured information adds value and errors can be reviewed.
